Preface

STARTS an attempt, by some artists and arts organisations, to transfer themselves from the dingy ghetto of restricted arts funding to the relatively opulent palaces of STEM funding, for it is a truth not universally known, that a STEM person (or a STEM research funding body like DG CONNECT) in want of an image, must be in want of an artist, and that an artist in want of an income must be in want of a STEM person (or a STEM funding body like DG CONNECT) in want of an image. Thus too does STEM issue forth STEAM!

But that which STARTS to STEAM comes at a very high price to research integrity, for to pull-off this magic, there is a need to engage in fabrication, falsification and other activities that fall short of outright deception, activities that are called Detrimental Research Practices.

Consequently, once more do we journey into our strange scriptovisual world, that space between descriptive expression and plastic expression, that world that lies between the cognitive and the expressive. And in doing this, we, by way of results, present to you a work which, if to literary (reader-response) theory you are inclined and will thus understand, invites you to undertake both an efferent reading and aesthetic one, for we are far away from Ancient Greek dualities – DG CONNECT are not and this is part of their massively flawed mentality. Explored within, even more features of their ancient past, which still lives on, in this very out-dated organisation.

If you are wise and understand, you will use these insights to disrupt, to do things that DG CONNECT will not understand, such is the problem of their Europeanness! Please use this insight to disrupt – we implore!

And to the observing and exploring of failing institutions – increasingly corrupt, incompetent and sinister too – and their predacity, do we now turn our pen: the failing institutions that are Western STEM, DG CONNECT, the European Commission, and yes – dare we say it? – the European Union, where we find that those whom to the art world do claim to belong, have joined the folks on the hill, for they learned fast, how to smile while they kill, for it is, as before, the price of admission, and part of the spreading infectious disease known as moral corruption.

Some on the left say that it is a capitalist conspiracy; some on the right say it is a socialist conspiracy! It seems you have forgotten already, that an ideology such as this has a name. Speak it now if you can!

So do we write, while watching, as they begin their retreat into a past that only exists in mythology, while heading for that place which in time past, tragically, was very much a reality!  The European Commission’s very own Ahnenerbe we do now present, along with a question that no one would think, nor dare to ask, but we in the creation of strange affect can: What do Lenin, Stalin, Hitler and DG CONNECT have in common? But before we begin in earnest to answer in fair time, this we do render with our pen:

Jean-Claude and his successors will not be pleased that DG CONNECT, like the rest too, caught by the beautiful reflection, the one that deludes and deceives, did become a clear manifestation of all that is a justification for Member States departing the monster that the Union is destined to become. This is a warning – will the Member States take heed? No they will not. Thus do we become the wind – the silent storm that demonstrates that the pen is far mightier than the European Union! Enemies, enemies, enemies all about, ‘tis an existential crisis, of that there is no doubt. One though made in the City of the Golden Stars, for as in empires past, no Reich can last for a thousand years.

It is time to create a different Europe – a Europe that is not Europe! A post European-era Europe. A post-Enlightenment Europe. Understand …
