FAST - Anthropocentric Production Systems Project

In 1990, the European Commission’s Forecasting in Science and Technology (FAST) Programme funded a major study into what it called Anthropocentric Production Systems. One of the purposes of this study was to make recommendations to the ESPRIT Programme to change its research strategy and to adopt human-centric as a European approach to IT in manufacturing. One of the main recommendations of the research recommendations report was that technologists needed to work with social sciences in an interdisciplinary way to develop human-centric technology (based upon an understanding of the two-way relationship between technology and social dimensions). Cheshire Henbury participated in this study and was responsible for researching and writing the research recommendations report.
