ISTAG Working Group - Human-centred Ambient Intelligence

In 2004, some members of high-level Advisory Group that advises the European Commission's ICT Programme (at that time called the IST Programme) expressed concern that citizens might reject ambient intelligence, and called for the development of human-centred ambience intelligence. The Advisory Group (known as ISTAG), with the support of DG INFSO, set up a working group to propose a way forward. Cheshire Henbury participated in this working group, and wrote with them, a report which essentially said that technologists should work with social sciences in an interdisciplinary way to develop a human-centric approach.
